Make creamy whipped feta in less than 10 minutes as a quick appetizer or mezze, or a delicious bed for roasted veggies, grilled meats and more!

Whipped feta is one of those appetizers I think everyone should have in their back pocket. It’s creamy, tangy, a little salty, and comes together super quickly with just a handful of ingredients. The secret to a really good whipped feta is getting the texture just right. This dip is creamy enough to spread onto warm pita, but thick enough to hold its shape on a serving platter.
Like my Whipped Ricotta, I love serving whipped feta as part of a mezze platter with warm pita, fresh vegetables, and olives, but don’t stop at the appetizer spread! It makes a delicious base for roasted veggies, Grilled Chicken Thighs, and so much more. Finish it with your favorite toppings, and you have something that looks like it came straight from a restaurant.

Ingredients
You only need a handful of ingredients to make insanely delicious whipped feta dip! Here’s the scoop:

- Feta block – look for a good-quality block of feta cheese! The better the feta, the better the dip! Avoid crumbled feta, as they usually include additives that will create a dry, grainy dip.
- Plain Greek yogurt – you can choose whatever fat content you’d prefer! I use nonfat Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt adds tanginess, while blending with the feta to create a creamy dip.
- Lemon – fresh lemon juice adds a pop of freshness and acidity, cutting the richness of the feta.
- Garlic – let’s be honest, everything’s better with garlic!
- Extra virgin olive oil – olive oil adds a touchy of fruity flavor while rounding out the dip’s creaminess.
- Water – a splash of water stretches the dip so it’s not too thick.
- Honey –a tiny bit of honey balances the dip so it’s not too tangy, without adding sweetness.
- Crushed red pepper flakes – like a little back heat? Add a dash of red pepper flakes to the dip, or add them as a garnish on top!
How to Make Whipped Feta
Whipped feta dip is one of the easiest dips to make! Here are the steps to make it; for the full recipe, see the recipe card below.

My Pro Tips
Tips for Success
- Use block feta, not crumbled feta: pre-crumbled feta tends to be drier, resulting in a grainier dip.
- Scrape down the sides: stop the food processor once or twice to scrape down the bowl.
- Blend longer than you think: feta can look smooth before it’s actually fully whipped.
- Taste before adding salt: feta is naturally salty, so you may not need any additional salt!
How to Serve Whipped Feta Dip
My favorite way to serve feta is in a shallow bowl so you can maximize the area with toppings.
- Suggested topping combo: hot honey, chopped pistachios, fresh thyme, and red pepper flakes (pictured below).
- Other topping ideas include: A drizzle of olive oil, herbs like oregano, parsley, basil, dill, and thyme, hot honey, flakes salt, red pepper flakes, chopped nuts, sliced olives, and Caramelized Onions, Roasted Tomatoes, or chopped cucumber.
- Serve with: warm pita, Garlic Naan, or Wheat Naan, pita chips, Crostini, and fresh cut veggies like cucumbers, bell peppers, and carrots, as a bed for roasted veggies, or even with grilled meats or kabobs as a dip!

Make Ahead and Storage
Whipped feta is best enjoyed within 1-2 days but leftovers can keep for up to 4 days. Store in an airtight container in the fridge, and bring to room temperature 30 minutes before enjoying. Refresh with a splash of olive oil if needed!
I don’t recommend freezing.

Notes
- Feta is naturally crumbly, so small lumps are normal! Avoiding pre-crumbled feta helps prevent large lumps.
- Add a splash extra olive oil or water for a thinner dip.
- Need serving suggestions? See my post above for ideas!
- The dip will firm up in the fridge. If making ahead, remove from fridge 30 minutes before serving and refresh with a splash of olive oil if needed.

I actually ate this out of the bowl with a spoon, it was THAT GOOD. I made this for a friend’s dinner and I had to put it in a smaller bowl lol. Everyone flipped over it. I’ll make two batches next time.
