Smoothies are like Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup…they are fuel for the soul! My favorite smoothies are this classic Secret-Ingredient Strawberry Banana Smoothie and my ultra-summery Mango Smoothie that’s just as healthy and easy!

Healthy, Secret Ingredient Strawberry Banana Smoothie

A strawberry banana smoothie is a true classic. It’s healthy and easy to make in just a few minutes! Naturally sweet ingredients blended until smooth and creamy make for a satisfying, refreshing breakfast or snack in no time.

Turn up your smoothie game with the ingredient that is the secret to the BEST strawberry banana smoothie EVER! Any guesses? Blending half of an orange into your smoothie adds a subtle citrusy, tropical undertone while adding an extra burst of Vitamin C and other nutrients! So delish!

Ingredients

What’s in this secret-ingredient smoothie? There’s only a few things you’ll need:

  • Frozen banana – simply peel a banana and freeze it in a freezer-safe container.
  • Fresh strawberries – fresh strawberries yield a creamy, yet not-too-thick smoothie.
  • Milk of choice – you can use dairy or dairy-free milk! I love an unsweetened almond milk/coconut milk blend that can be found right in the grocery store.
  • Orange – the secret ingredient! Peel an orange and add half of it to your blender for a subtle citrusy, tropical undertone.

How To Make A Smoothie

Making a strawberry banana smoothie is SO easy. Simply place your milk of choice in a blender, and then add the rest of your ingredients (frozen banana, hulled strawberries, and half an orange). Blend until creamy and smooth! Voilà!

Recipe Variations

  • Frozen strawberries – using frozen strawberries instead of fresh strawberries will yield a thicker result.
  • Orange – add a whole orange instead of a half for a more pronounced citrusy taste and slightly thinner (instead of thicker) texture!
  • Mint – add a couple of sprigs of fresh mint to your blender for a cool, spicy kick!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Tips

Here are some tips for the perfect strawberry banana smoothie:

  • What’s the secret to the perfect creamy smoothie that’s the creamy yet not too thick? Place milk in your blender first, then the rest of the ingredients!
  • Use cold ingredients for a cold smoothie!
  • Store leftover smoothie in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
