Ingredients for Roasted Chickpeas
- Cans of chickpeas – this recipe uses two regular cans of chickpeas, about 15.5 ounces each.
- Extra virgin olive oil – a little olive oil is all you need! Too much will cause your chickpeas to struggle to crisp up. You can also use vegetable oil or avocado oil.
Seasonings for Roasted Chickpeas
- Simple Salt Seasoning – you’ll just need some regular, fine salt.
- Ranch Seasoning – I buy a Hidden Valley ranch seasoning packet (NOT ranch dip mix which is saltier). This is not an ad!
- BBQ Seasoning – I like McCormick Grill Mates BBQ seasoning (this is not an ad!).
- Everything Bagel Seasoning – You can buy everything bagel seasoning at stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joes in the spice section. I also use a bit extra olive oil for this seasoning since it’s a bit coarse and requires a little extra something to help it stick to the roasted chickpeas.
- Cinnamon Sugar Seasoning – mix together sugar, cinnamon, and a dash of salt for a sweet treat!

Tips for Roasted Chickpeas
- Roasted chickpeas will lose their crispiness over time so they’re best eaten right away.
- A little olive oil goes a long way. Don’t use more than 1 tablespoon per 2 cans!
- If you like a light amount of seasoning, or heavy amount of seasoning, you may need to adjust the seasoning amounts listed.
- Everything bagel seasoning is coarser in texture, so I coat the roasted chickpeas very lightly in a bit more olive oil to help the seasoning stick.
- Salt after roasting, not before.
Ways to Use Roasted Chickpeas
Roasted chickpeas are a delicious snack or appetizer. You can also use them as a salad topper, like on a Green Goddess Salad, or as an addition to a bowl, like this Salmon Rice Bowl!
How to Store Roasted Chickpeas
Roasted chickpeas are best served right away, hot out of the oven. The longer they’re out of the oven, the less crispy they’ll get. If you choose to store them, let them cool completely before covering them and placing them in the fridge for up to 2 days.
I don’t recommend reheating them or freezing them!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Notes
- Roasted chickpeas will lose their crispiness over time so they’re best eaten right away. Let chickpeas cool in a single layer on a plate if you are enjoying later that day. I recommend refrigerating roasted chickpeas (after they’ve cooled) if you aren’t planning to eat them same-day!
- A little olive oil goes a long way. Too much olive oil will prevent chickpeas from crisping up.
- The amount of seasoning listed above is for 2 cans of chickpeas. If you plan on using a different amount of chickpeas, adjust the amount of olive oil and seasoning accordingly.
- If you like a light amount of seasoning, or heavy amount of seasoning, you may need to adjust the seasoning amounts listed. This recipe yields moderately seasoned chickpeas!
- Everything bagel seasoning is coarser in texture, so I coat the roasted chickpeas very lightly in a bit more olive oil to help the seasoning stick.
