Mary’s Challah French Toast
My sister’s 30-minute challah French toast recipe is better than any diner’s. It's crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, of course topped with a slab of butter and a drizzle of maple syrup!

Ingredients
6
thick slices of challah or brioche bread
about 1 inch thick slices
3
large eggs
⅓
cup
whole milk
⅓
cup
buttermilk
3
tablespoons
salted butter
1 ½
teaspoons
vanilla extract
1 ½
teaspoons
cinnamon
Toppings of choice
butter, maple syrup, berries, powdered sugar
Instructions
In a shallow bowl or dish, add eggs. Lightly beat.
Add whole milk, buttermilk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk until combined.
Dip 3 pieces of bread in egg mixture, letting bread sit in mixture for about 20 seconds per side.
Preheat a large pan over medium heat. Add 1 ½ tablespoons butter. Let melt.
Add bread to pan, and let cook until deep golden brown, about 4-8 minutes per side.
