The Ingredients
1-ounce gin or vodka
¼ cup fresh blood orange juice (roughly 3 oranges)
½ Meyer lemon, juiced
½ cup prosecco or champagne
Optional: Dash light agave nectar or honey (I do not add)
Salt or sugar, for the rim
Cayenne, for the rim
Mint or basil, to garnish
Blood orange wedge, to garnish
The Steps
For the rim: Wet the rim of a lowball glass with water. Add salt and a dash of cayenne to a plate, and press wetted rim of glass into salt-cayenne mixture.
For the cocktail: Add ice to glass and to a cocktail shaker. If you don’t have a shaker, you can stir your drink!
Add gin or vodka, blood orange juice, Meyer lemon juice, and agave (optional) to shaker.
Shake cocktail, and then pour into glass. Top off with prosecco.
To garnish: Garnish with fresh herbs and blood orange slice.
