My fiancé Eric introduced me to the classic Negroni when we first met. I was always the girl who went to a bar and didn’t know what to order (and never liked what I ordered). Eric took the reins and ordered a Negroni for me and it’s been our favorite drink ever since! In fact, it will be our signature cocktail at our wedding next summer!
Eric is 50% Italian and he grew up surrounded by a family of Italian restauranteurs and bartenders. Negronis are basically in his blood (HA!).
Check out our recipe video on YouTube linked in this post. Eric teaches me how to make this simple cocktail that’s herbaceous, just the right sweetness, citrusy and so delish! Plus, it’s the perfect red and orange color to be sipping on an autumn evening like tonight! Happy Friday everyone.
Makes: 1 cocktail
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 0 minutes
Total time: 5 minutes
The Ingredients
1 ounce (1 part) Campari
1 ounce (1 part) Gin (I love Tanqueray 10…this is not an ad)
1 ounce (1 part) Sweet Vermouth
Ice (the classic is to use a giant square ice cube)
1 piece of orange peel
The Steps
Stir or shake (in a cocktail shaker) ice, gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth together. Strain into a glass with a large square ice cube or regular ice. Use a vegetable peeler to remove a strip of orange peel off an orange. Rub the rim of the glass with the orange peel and drop it into the cocktail. Your drink is ready!
