Blood Orange Cranberry Margarita

Monday blues. Anyone feeling the same way? Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I’m counting down the moments until I have an excuse to stuff myself with more stuffing than I should rightly consume. And obviously, whipping up a fantastic complimentary cocktail makes all the Turkey Day fixings that much better!

Planning on making a classic cranberry sauce to accompany your turkey this year? This Blood Orange Cranberry Margarita is the perfect tart and sweet combo that adds just the right cranberry addition to your Thanksgiving table, adult beverage style!

Even make a chilled pitcher of Blood Orange Cranberry Margaritas for the table!

Makes: 1 cocktail

The Ingredients

2 ounces silver tequila

1 ounce triple sec

1/4 cup, plus 1 tablespoon sweetened cranberry juice

1/4 cup orange juice

1 blood orange, 1/2 orange for the juice and 1/2 orange for the zest and a slice to garnish

1/4 cup sparkling water or orange seltzer

Heaping 1/4 cup fresh cranberries

Ice

Sugar, to garnish

Blood orange zest & slice, to garnish

 

The Steps

In a glass, add tequila, triple sec, cranberry juice, orange juice, juice of a 1/2 of a blood orange, sparkling water/seltzer, and ice. Mash fresh cranberries in a separate bowl. Add to glass. Stir or shake if you have a shaker! Wet rim of glass with water or agave. Add sugar to rim. Or dip rim on a sugared plate before making drink! Garnish with blood orange and zest.
