Acai Peach Summer Smoothie

A homemade smoothie is one of my favorite healthy breakfasts or afternoon pick-me-ups. And adding Acai (a superfood!) to my smoothies is not only incredibly nutritious but so delicious. Acai tastes like a combination of the rich flavors of blackberries and raspberries mixed with dark chocolate. How good does that sound? And not to mention that Acai is totally packed with omegas and antioxidants!

Pureed with sweet, juicy peach and creamy banana, this smoothie is a summer staple in my household.

Bring it on-the-go for a ~220 calorie refresher that will crave without breaking your diet!

 

Makes: 1 medium-sized smoothie

The Ingredients

1 packet frozen, unsweetened acai berry puree (I like the brand Sambazon)

1/2 slightly speckled banana, frozen (directions below)

1 ripe peach

1/2 cup skim milk (or almond milk)

 

The Steps

For frozen halved banana: Leaving banana peel on, cut banana in half. If you’d like to freeze both halves of the banana (to freeze half for another smoothie!), place both banana halves in zip lock bag for at least 45 minutes. Remove banana half from zip lock bag right before you’re ready to use it! Peel frozen banana half and pop in blender.

Cut peach into large chunks (skin on) and place in blender.

Run Acai packet under hot water for a few seconds. Use hands to break up frozen Acai into big chunks. Cut packet open, and place contents in blender.

Add milk. Blend until smooth, about 2 minutes. Place smoothie in fridge for 15-20 minutes.

Treat yourself!
